We rejoice in this Christmas Season and remember that God has done all that needed to be done in the coming of the Prince of Peace. God has taken on flesh and entered our carnal world in the Christ Child. If Peace is indeed God’s will for us, then why is there so much unrest?
Violence, injustice, perversion and even murder blot the landscape of humanity. Every single day comes with a new shocking reality that surpasses our already desensitized expectations. Yet, Jesus came and promised, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” (ELV)
Thus, it is for us the paradox of the promise of peace in the midst of human depravity, as it was for Jesus from his birth until his death. But the battle was won for Christ and us in the resurrection that conquered sin and death forever. God is true to His Word, peace has come in the form of a child who has become our salvation. This is the eternal message of Christmas and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Depravity, sin, and injustice will not win. God loves us and we matter greatly to God. For peace to be born, we must embrace the Prince of Peace. Lord, let it be so. Amen
