Get the picture if you will…I was rushing through my normal day trying to plan while putting out fires. I was on the move from one building to another crafting what seemed to be a very important email response when a pain hit me in the bottom of my shoe. I stopped. No wait, God helped me stop for just a second.
It was a jagged pebble in my shoe. When I bent down to remove my shoe and shake out the pebble, my head almost touched an iris in full bloom. It was magnificent! This was the same iris that I had already rushed past twice that day and never noticed. It was perfect and I was awestruck! There was God!
I stood there with one shoe on and one shoe in my hand and God spoke into my mind Psalm 19,
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
Having no voice and using no words the iris declared the beauty of God’s creation. God stopped me with a tiny pebble to do me a huge favor. God spoke to me through the beauty of His creation. I saw God today and it changed my whole attitude as I remembered His beauty the whole day long.
God is nearer than you think if you will only stop, look, and listen 🙂
