Life is a gift and is not like any other. I love gifts! Birthdays, Valentines, Christmas and anniversaries are a celebration as we joyfully partake in the giving and the receiving of gifts. But no gift compares to the gift of life, for the gift of life is God’s gift of love to us. God is the giver, sustainer, redeemer and completer of our life.
David wrote in Psalm 24:1, The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. All creations belong to God who is the author and creator of all things. The struggle of humanity is perceived as complex but in the deepest sense, it is really very simple. Our challenge is how we live out the life God gives us. This sounds so black and white, but really it’s just simply factual: there are only two ways to live life, God’s way or some other way.
Living life any way other than God’s way creates layers and layers of issues. In the end, the dilemma is a Lordship issue. If the Lord is the owner of it all, then that would mean we are simply stewarding life, time, talent, treasure, resources and relationships. In fact, God has not just given us life but promised to be ever present with us and to guide us by His Word to live this life as a thankful steward for God’s glory. THAT is a lot of love!
