Luke 2 is the declaration of the greatest love story ever! The story of God’s great love for you, me and ALL people. That certainly includes the poor and downcast. Let me just encourage you in this final week of Christmas to “See the People” around you and be mindful of them. For most of us, we don’t have to go far to encounter people who need love and care in more than just a verbal word of encouragement. They need real help and we can help them!
Be mindful, as well, that the poor outside the U.S. are precious to God and should be equally precious to us. Last week while in Costa Rica I saw one of our many mission projects to be undertaken in 2018 as a church. It is the living situation depicted in the accompanying photo.
This lean-to, shanty type structure has been what a beautiful woman and her 95-year-old mother call home in La Carpio. La Carpio is a landfill area largely homesteaded by 35,000 Nicaraguan refugees. God will be glorified by the love that will be shown in helping these precious women. This is a way to communicate God’s love to ALL the people!
Won’t you join us? Even if you can’t join our mission teams and come alongside them to actually build them a house, you can give to make it happen. Check out the opportunity and just choose the Give tab at the top of the page at http://www.mountpisgah.org
