In the prime of his life, Bob Buford shares of calling on Peter Drucker to help Bob get focused on spiritual growth. Buford remembers that they were making great progress as he was running through his life goals when Drucker abruptly interrupted him. “Bob, you can’t make spiritual goals for others, you can only make them for yourself.” Regularly I receive calls and emails from people who are interested in growing spiritually. It matters not their gender, age, race, or life circumstance. They simply want to connect with God and grow spiritually. Somehow, they have detected that something within them yeanrs to learn and grow. Paul writes in Ephesians 4 with the purpose of instructing the church at Ephesus on the importance of body growth, yet he also teaches that there cannot be body growth with the Body of Christ without personal growth. So how does that happen? If we use this same passage to consider how we should reorder our lives ,we discover it is about three requirements that can only come from us: commitment, investment, and application. This week in worship, we will unpack the how to of making progress in spiritual growth. Feel free to join us @mountpisgahumc or at mountpisgah.org to find out how. How do you grow spiritually? It would be interesting to hear your method, everyone has a philosophy. Be blessed!
