There is only one thing my wife appreciates more than hearing me say, “I love you”… and that is showing her that I love her through genuine loving behaviors. Love demands sacrifice. In fact without sacrifice, that behavior tends to become a wonderful gesture, but not necessarily a loving behavior.
Valentine’s Day is coming (selah)…exciting for many, but a bummer for others. It’s really a day where many look for, celebrate, and sometimes hide from – the latest cultural expressions of love.
God’s great declaration of His love is for each of us in the cross of Christ. No matter your age or stage; no matter how many times you have been burned by what looked and felt like love; no matter your past, God invites you to embrace a love that is real, lasting and that will never betray you.
Love is about receiving God’s gift and resting in the assurance of His love for us, and then aligning our heart and voice to reflect that love with others. I trust that Saturday is a great day for you and that you know there is one who loves you like no other!
I am also excited about worship on Sunday as we look together at God’s love and then move together to live in the transformation of the loving behaviors birthed from aligning our heart and our voice. Happy Valentine’s Day!
