Isn’t a marvelous thing to watch love at work? Just to clarify, I am not speaking of the initial romantic momentum that occurs in a budding relationship which is great, but rather the love that comes through sacrificial acts that meet needs.
God perfected that and we call it Christmas. God so loved us that He took on flesh and came to earth to save us from our sins and ourselves. The love displayed through the crucifixion and death on the cross by Christ is an expression of God’s great sacrificial love for us.
Yesterday we had the joy of worshipping the God who is teaching us about loving God and loving people in real ways. Our focus was on the John 6 statement of Jesus that I am the living bread of heaven and of life. One of our faithful servants here had baked scores of loaves of fresh, hot bread. We invited those who came to worship to take those loves with them and share those loaves with someone around them and feed them both physically with the bread and spiritually with an encouraging word from God and a prayer.
In a moment, all the loaves were out the door! It was simply amazing to see people who know they are loved by God on a mission to love others. They get it, Christmas is about God and His love and Love Gives!
