One of the very best parts of my job as a pastor is in walking beside and helping other people discover and live in their call. Some would refer to this as finding their life-purpose while others would come at it from a different angle explaining this is simply “who I am at my best.”
What’s that call for you? Granted if you claim to be a follower of Jesus Christ, the Bible says we share a common call to make disciples of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-200). But, what I am really asking is within the common call, what is your specific call? To clarify, that would be what God has uniquely gifted you to contribute for God to others and specifically called you to be about for God’s glory. Have you ever thought about that?
Thanks to Will Mancini and the Auxano Group I have formally written a statement to remind myself, I am called to awaken, train, and equip discipling leaders globally. That’s 11 simple words strung together that frames my purpose and passion to live. It’s who I am and what I am about. Mancini has a great, simple instructional article on his blog that helps us formalize that in a way that is easy to keep before us.
Our church is on a journey with a growing number of people in our community to help them discover, prepare, and live out their call. The people who are diligent in this process as they follow God are among the happiest people I have ever encountered. If I can help you discover and answer your God-given call please call on me, it will be my joy and privilege to help you! http://www.mountpisgah.org
