Sunday was one of those days that I will remember forever. Not one but two 911 calls in one service! At 9:30 am a normally vibrant Denise just fell right out of her pew into the aisle. She was having an asthma attack and problems breathing. Our people responded brilliantly; like people who rushed to care as if it was a programmed reaction.
In just a few minutes the EMT first responders were there helping her and as I tried to remain calm and keep us centered in God’s peace and presence amidst the storm. I remember thinking, these paramedics got here super fast. I was later informed that they were already on site treating another lady who had fallen down the steps just like two minutes before. They were already on site when the second call was called in and just simply rushed upstairs.
God is good. Good to respond, good to care, good to give us a comforting hand or lift just when we think crisis and storm will overtake us. And God is good to use us as His instrument to extend such. The beauty of the Body of Christ is all around us at school, church, work, etc. It is in the form of those willing to be the hands and feet of Christ to model what Jesus modeled as the original first responder on the cross. Thank you Jesus for caring for us and thank you for inviting us to make our life super meaningful in responding to care for others! Psalm 19
