I can remember as a little boy playing with a neighborhood friend as we sailed our plastic boats in the creek that ran through our neighborhood. Oblivious to the time and our wandering journey, darkness set in and so did panic when we realized we didn’t know where we were. God was good to lead us up the hill from the creek side and we found a street we recognized. We were not yet home but we had found the road that we knew we take us home.
What a relief it is to find God’s road that takes us home. Home to a real purpose, home to an assuring love, and home to a place where we are loved and accepted. God has given us such a road to travel in and with a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Salvation doesn’t exempt us from life’s problems, but it does mean we can be reconciled to God and escape eternal death. Prayer is God’s gift to us from God through Christ and the Holy Spirit that leads us into life abundant both in this life and life eternal in the life to come.
Prayer is our lifeline to God and much-needed because there is no opting out of the daily challenges of life. It’s the lifeline between you and the Lord. The conversation never needs to end, and know God years to hear your voice. This gift will help you through every season of life even in times of darkness and disorientation. This week I challenge you to live like a person who is safe in the arms of Jesus. Connect with Him in prayer and take the risk to share with another person how Christ is working in your life. God is good to help us find the road home in and with Jesus! Romans 6:11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
